The road to Stansted
The fastest route from KT7 is usually the western and northern side of the M25. Drivers join near Esher or Chessington, travel anticlockwise past Heathrow and round to the M11, then head north to junction 8 for the airport. It is roughly 60 miles. The eastern route through the Dartford Crossing is sometimes used when the western side is closed, and it involves a crossing charge.

The rail option to Stansted runs from Liverpool Street. From Thames Ditton that means a train into Waterloo, a Tube across the city, then the airport train.
